The Chinese American Environmental Professionals Association (CAEPA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the professional development of its members. CAEPA fosters the exchange of knowledge in the environmental field. Programs include technical presentations, field trips, international liaisons and conferences. CAEPA promotes environmental education within the Asian American student community. In 1999, CAEPA initiated a scholarship award for Asian American high school students. The scholarship program goals are to 1) recognize outstanding youth leadership, 2) encourage career exploration in the environmental fields, and 3) facilitate public education.
In January 2021, we announced an environmental video contest sponsored by the Scholarship Program. The 2021 theme was about actions people can take to address an environmental issue impacting the San Francisco Bay Area. The scope of the issue could be at the regional, city or local/neighborhood level.
The contest ended on March 31. We thank all students for making this a successful event. After careful review, we have 2 videos tied for the first place and 2 other videos tied for the third place. The first place students split the scholarship for the first and second place awards and each received an $800 scholarship and a certificate. The third place students each received a $300 scholarship and a certificate. We were impressed by their creativity, persuasiveness, and knowledge about the environmental challenges and opportunities as reflected in their videos. We are proud to present to you the talented creators and their winning videos! Please help us spread the word and share the videos to facilitate public education.
